In 2015, I had just graduated from design school and could not find a job. So I started making clothes for my friends and my cousins, without any plan of building a brand. I dreamed of working for some recognized fashion house. Life had other plans. The friends of my friends started asking for pieces, and that is how La Bloom was born.
The name comes from my thesis: the idea of blooming where you are planted. It carries the feminine strength my mother and my friends passed on to me, and a belief I still hold: fashion can oppress us, but it can also set us free.
Why New York
For ten years we have designed and produced every piece in our own atelier in Medellin. Small runs. Real hands. Clothes made to live in, not to throw away. New York is where I now get to plant that same seed again, in new soil.
La Bloom NYC is not a copy of our Colombia store. It is the next chapter of the same story: a curated edit of our collections, with many pieces made to order in our Medellin atelier, arriving in three to four weeks.
The showroom
Our home in New York is a showroom on Nassau Avenue in Brooklyn. It is open seven days a week, by appointment only. Come try things on, tell me what you are dressing for, and let us build your closet together. This is how I started, one woman at a time, and it is still my favorite way to work.
Same instinct, new chapter
